I focus on what works. I draw from empirically supported treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I use a relational approach to help you gain insight in how you may be interacting with others, and provide feedback that you may not be getting from your friends.
My goal is to help to facilitate a compassionate voice to counter any negative self-talk. I gently challenge the part of you that is leaving you feeling stuck or falling into self-destructive patterns. I don’t pathologize normal behavior or minimize any form of suffering.
I facilitate reparative experiences and insights that don’t fit the old, disparaging thoughts that you have about yourself. These moments can then build on themselves and provide the opportunity for a range of important new behaviors to emerge. My intention is for you to leave our sessions feeling open in your thinking and believe that you have options and strategies in coping with problems that arise. I want you to grow to a place where you feel confident enough to fire me!
